Ann Helmke

An ordained ELCA minister she serves as the Faith Liaison for the City of San Antonio. She has been instrumental is helping the city to become a leader in integrating compassion in all aspects of of daily operations. She recently became the 2023 San Antonio Peace Laureate, and in 2022 received an honorary doctorate from Oblate School of Theology.  She has taught theology and spirituality, workshop and retreat leadership, mission development for 30+ years and is responsible for co-founding of the all-volunteer and interfaith San Antonio Peace Center.  Today she is playing a key role in the launch of Compassionate USA.
